Our Dancing Steps is a performance demonstration presented by young dancers of the Irish National Youth Ballet for primary school pupils. The dancers, each in their transition year at school, have compiled a programme for their younger colleagues which examines the difficulties of training for ballet, explaining the dedication and discipline, but also expressing the joy it brings. They share personal stories and experiences that highlight the transformative power of dance, from their first tentative steps into a dance studio, to the exhilaration of performing on stage.
The programme delivers demonstrations of class work, taught by our TY dancers, excerpts of INYB repertoire, mime sequence, a Q&A with the primary school children and their favourite part which is learning a small section of the Nutcracker children’s dance.
If you have or know of a primary school that might be interested in the programme please do pass on our details and we would be delighted to share this beautiful artform with them.
